I have unintentionally become an expert in matchmaking services. When I got divorced 5 years ago at age 37, it didn’t take me long to figure out that hiring a personal matchmaker made excellent sense. With three young kids and an incredibly busy work schedule, I knew I didn’t want to waste my little free time hanging out in the usual places hoping to meet a great gal.  This model worked in college (when going out was ALL we did and we had no money), but I knew less than a year after parachuting into the dating world after 15 years of marriage that it wasn’t going to work now. So, I hired my first matchmaker, and then my second, and then my third. None of them were Craig Donaldson. While those companies talked a good game, and said all the right things, they just couldn’t deliver the type of introductions I wanted. My criteria were really pretty simple: beautiful, heart of gold, and fun. How hard could that be, right? Instead, I was consistently introduced to women that were older than me and just not that attractive. Sure, a lot of them were really sweet and smart and had great careers, but these companies just couldn’t deliver anyone with the “wow” factor. I sound really picky I know, and I am. Why these companies couldn’t deliver puzzled me. They were nationally advertised, they had great marketing material, and they appeared to know what they were doing. It took me about 3 years, but I finally figured out what they had in common: (1) all of their women paid a lot to join; (2) they were owned by women; and (3) none of them seemed to have any word-of-mouth recruiting for women (i.e., the women were responding to ads just like me). Because I learned the hard way, I developed some very specific opinions (and I think well informed) about what a good matchmaking company should be: (1) owned and run by a man (I don’t ever want to hear “she has a great personality” from a matchmaker again); (2) women don’t pay to join (women who have the “wow” factor know they don’t have to pay to get attention and dates); and (3) attractive women are the only ones that can recruit other attractive women (they have to be persuaded by women like themselves, not advertising). With these thoughts in mind, I set about this year to either find a company that did business this way or I was going to start one myself. THANKFULLY, I met Craig Donaldson and joined Model Quality Introductions this year. He runs his company the way I had envisioned a great matchmaker would and, of course, the proof is in the pudding. In the last 2 months since I joined, I have met 3 of the most beautiful and desirable women I have ever met. One of these is pointing down a very promising road. I’m smart enough to know that no company can promise and deliver chemistry (you just to have figure that out when you meet someone), but I also know that a successful business has to be able to deliver what they promised. Craig has done EXACTLY that and he is the FIRST and ONLY one I have ever met that could. In short, I finally figured out which matchmaking company all the women with the “wow” factor join.
